Maternal instinct. How I rescued a kitten

Maternal instinct. How I rescued a kittenI was on my way home and about to cross the street when a cat ran up to me, meowing loudly. I stopped, and the cat turned around and looked at me. I decided to continue on my way, but the cat caught up with me and looked at me with pleading eyes. I followed her.

I heard a squeaking sound coming from a well near my house. When I looked inside, I understood everything. Obviously, the kitten was running after its mother and, not noticing the open lid, fell into the well. I jumped into the well and tried to reach for the kitten, but it crawled further and further away. The mother cat was watching silently from above.

Then I decided to try a different approach — I pulled the mother cat down into the well, thinking that the kitten would crawl towards her. But the kitten didn’t budge from its hiding place.

So, I decided to try and lure the kitten out with the smell of sausage. I pulled the mother cat out of the well and rushed home. Surprisingly, the mother cat didn’t follow me, but stayed at the well. I came back with the treat and jumped into the well again, this time bringing the mother cat with me. I put the pieces of sausage in front of her and waited.

The mother cat didn’t touch the treat, but the kitten slowly started to crawl out of the pipe. When it was completely out, I caught it and pushed it up to the surface, followed by the mother cat. She licked her baby and looked at me gratefully.

Sometimes in the mornings, I would see them and feed them. The mother cat recognized me and just purred when I held the baby.
